I was very happy the K. family was up for where we chose to have our family shoot. St. Vincent’s is one of the most beautiful and peaceful locations I’ve visited since moving to Marin. And it’s just minutes off of Highway 101 in San Rafael. Located on 780 acres, the Spanish colonial-style buildings surrounding the lovely chapel give you a real sense of California history. It’s feels as if you are stepping back in time. Originally built as a school by the Dominican Sisters in 1855, the campus was rebuilt and expanded by the Christian Brothers in the 1920’s. The sprawling Mission-style campus is the perfect backdrop for a family photo session with white walls and red stone steps surrounded by a grove of eucalyptus trees. Add to that a ballet school housed on the grounds with classical music emanating from the open windows and it truly felt magical. The K. Family was the successful bid on a photography session donated to the Twin Cities Coop Preschool in Corte Madera. I love photographing families with young children. They bring so much energy to the session and are full of great posing suggestions. The two boys, aged 7 and 4, loved exploring the grounds and discovered multiple courtyards and surprises around every corner. And the end-of-day light was spectacular. A lovely fall evening. The children were just great and capturing their interactions with their parents made my day. Thank you K. Family!
