I was very happy the K. family was up for where we chose to have our family shoot. St. Vincent’s is one of the most beautiful and peaceful locations I’ve visited since moving to Marin. And it’s just minutes off of Highway 101 in San Rafael. Located on 780 acres, the Spanish colonial-style buildings surrounding the lovely chapel give you a real sense of California history. It’s feels as if you are stepping back in time. Originally built as a school by the Dominican Sisters in 1855, the campus was rebuilt and expanded by the Christian Brothers in the 1920’s. The sprawling Mission-style campus is the perfect backdrop for a family photo session with white walls and red stone steps surrounded by a grove of eucalyptus trees. Add to that a ballet school housed on the grounds with classical music emanating from the open windows and it truly felt magical.

First newborn session of 2016! Such a great way to kick off the new year. Baby B. was born on Christmas Eve and I loved photographing all the new relationships his arrival creates with mom, dad and big brother. Thank you N. Family!
The B. Family was the successful bid on an auction item I donated to the Twin Cities Coop Preschool in Corte Madera. We had a beautiful September evening on the beach for our family photography session. The three girls brought so much fun energy to the session and I loved capturing their interactions. Thank you B. Family!
On a hot July day, with a high of 99 degrees, we headed to Stinson Beach for some cooler breezes and beautiful light. The W. Family was the successful bid this year on an auction item I donated to the Ross Valley Nursery School in Kentfield. I love how the family's outfits coordinate so well with the natural beach colors! Photography enables me to meet so many nice Marin families. Thank you W. Family!
The H. Family welcomed a new baby boy last week. It was such a treat to capture this truly joyful occasion. Thank you H. Family!
This is the start of a new column on Travel with Children. First destination: London, specifically with younger children. Having lived in London for three years with a toddler I am often asked for suggestions on fun family activities for visitors. London is a fantastic city to visit with young children. There are unlimited castles, towers, museums and parks. Just riding on the double-decker buses (be sure to sit upstairs!) or in the black cabs would probably bring hours of pleasure for any young child. But there are so many fun stops to make along the way. In addition to the obvious sites to visit, such as Buckingham Palace, here are some of our favorite activities when we lived as locals. Some favorite activities: The Serpentine Lido at Hyde Park: you pay a nominal entrance fee and have access to a lovely elevated spacious grass area with paddling pool, playground and sandbox
Another lovely newborn session in Greenbrae. Big sister was so happy to welcome her new baby sister. Those first few days are truly magical.
Oh the excitement of a new baby in the family! Miss A. is just 8 days old and her big sister, parents and grandparents are so happy to welcome her. Thank you B. Family for such a relaxed morning session.
Tiburon truly felt like the great small town that it is when we had our session there this week with this family of six. I’m sure for the P. Family it feels completely normal to have so many residents stop to speak to them. For me, it was really fun to observe. I think my favorite interaction was when the bus driver slowed down his bus to hold up 4 fingers and then gave a big thumbs up. We had beautiful light in the late afternoon and the children were so much fun to photograph. Thank you P. Family!
We had a beautiful fall afternoon in Inverness on Tomales Bay this past weekend. And all wrapped up in time to watch the World Series. Thank you S. Family for making the session such a breeze!
