This is the start of a new column on Travel with Children. First destination: London, specifically with younger children. Having lived in London for three years with a toddler I am often asked for suggestions on fun family activities for visitors. London is a fantastic city to visit with young children. There are unlimited castles, towers, museums and parks. Just riding on the double-decker buses (be sure to sit upstairs!) or in the black cabs would probably bring hours of pleasure for any young child. But there are so many fun stops to make along the way. In addition to the obvious sites to visit, such as Buckingham Palace, here are some of our favorite activities when we lived as locals. Some favorite activities: The Serpentine Lido at Hyde Park: you pay a nominal entrance fee and have access to a lovely elevated spacious grass area with paddling pool, playground and sandbox

Another lovely newborn session in Greenbrae. Big sister was so happy to welcome her new baby sister. Those first few days are truly magical.
Oh the excitement of a new baby in the family! Miss A. is just 8 days old and her big sister, parents and grandparents are so happy to welcome her. Thank you B. Family for such a relaxed morning session.
Tiburon truly felt like the great small town that it is when we had our session there this week with this family of six. I’m sure for the P. Family it feels completely normal to have so many residents stop to speak to them. For me, it was really fun to observe. I think my favorite interaction was when the bus driver slowed down his bus to hold up 4 fingers and then gave a big thumbs up. We had beautiful light in the late afternoon and the children were so much fun to photograph. Thank you P. Family!
We had a beautiful fall afternoon in Inverness on Tomales Bay this past weekend. And all wrapped up in time to watch the World Series. Thank you S. Family for making the session such a breeze!
A newborn session with the whole family. I loved photographing all the different connections between mom, dad, big sister and new baby brother. Thank you M. Family for being so relaxed and so welcoming.
Thank you H. Family for a beautiful afternoon session on the Truckee River in Lake Tahoe. The setting was truly breathtaking and the children were so much fun to photograph. An absolute delight.
St. Vincent’s in San Rafael provided a beautiful setting for this evening family shoot. The husband purchased a gift certificate for a photography session for his family at the holidays. A gift the family will enjoy for years and generations to come. Thank you R. Family for bringing such great energy to the session!
Images of the whole family. These are the images most families do not have. And they are truly treasured in later years. The T. Family wanted to celebrate the arrival of their new baby girl at the 6-month stage with images of her and her big sister, with mom and dad, and with the whole family. All together. Thank you for such a warm welcome.
California is truly spectacular and makes such a wonderful backdrop for family images. And we are able to schedule shoots outdoors year round. Pretty amazing. For this family session in November we met up at Rodeo Beach in Sausalito. A beautiful “remote” location just minutes from the Golden Gate Bridge. So much fun!
