I’m a Marin photographer, based in Marin County in the San Francisco Bay Area. California is truly spectacular and offers a wonderful backdrop for family images.
Family photography matters. When children are growing up, it’s typically a parent who is behind the camera. I want your children to have photographs with you in them. For now and for later. My home is filled with photographs of my family, some taken by other professional photographers. The images make me smile every time I walk by them. And they become even more powerful as the years pass.
Portrait photography is my passion. I am a storytelling portrait photographer. I am not a studio photographer. I want to be with people, photographing people. I love the unpredictability of moments happening. And children bring that to every shoot. The surprises invigorate and inspire me. I love capturing the family interactions and connections that result.
My studies at the International Center of Photography in Manhattan combined with shooting assignments in New York, London and California give me a unique perspective. I love that photography continues to evolve and that as a Marin photographer I am constantly challenged.
My style is simple and casual with little direction. I love to observe the joy, wonder and beauty of a child with my camera. I admire a child’s ability to live in the moment. It’s that sense of just ‘being’ that I try to capture when I’m shooting. My clients are often surprised at how easy and relaxed they feel at their shoot. Interacting with your children gives you a real purpose and helps you to (almost!) forget that I am with you. Together, we create images that are dynamic and meaningful.
My top priority is to make you and your family look good! Through my simple shooting style and natural posing, I make sure your family looks natural and lovely in every image. I truly believe family photographs should be displayed on the wall and not stranded on our devices. Displaying photos prominently in our homes sends the message that our family and those in it are important to each other.
I am an official photographer for Magic Hour, an amazing organization that connects families fighting cancer with photographers for complimentary shoots. Check it out! And if you know of a family who could benefit from this organization, please share Magic Hour with them, or contact me directly.
